The following is an overview of the steps you would typically go through to evaluate a learning intervention using Trellis 2011.  The individual stages are explained in more detail in other parts of the help file.

1. Create an evaluation project and save it in a folder

Choose a folder name based on how you want to organise your evaluations.  Choose a name for your evaluation project and save it in that folder.  This evaluation project forms the unit of management for training evaluations you manage using Trellis 2011.

2. Set up the details of the training event

Enter the details of the training event in your evaluation project.  This will include the name of the course, the location, the number of delegates attending etc.

This data depends on lists that you set up so you can select from these lists each time you set up an evaluation project. Any time you need to select a training course item that does not already exist it the lists, you can easily add it with a few mouse clicks.

3. Select the evaluation form(s) to use for the evaluation and verify any benchmarks

You can use one or more evaluation forms to evaluate a training course. To choose the form to use you can:

Select one from the form template library

Import one from another evaluation project

create one from scratch using the form designer

Once you have decided on the form(s) to use, import them into your evaluation project.  If your are going to be benchmarking the course, review/set the benchmarks accordingly.

4. Distribute the evaluation forms to the interested parties using the web, e-mail or paper

At the different stages of the evaluation process, distribute the relevant form to the relevant parties.  This would include the training delegates, their managers and the instructors.

Trellis 2011 gives you the option to distribute the evaluation forms to the relevant parties using online, e-mail or paper form methods.

5. Gather up feedback and process responses

For web evaluations, you can check the status of responses from the Trellis control panel. Once you see responses coming in you can download and process responses from the web server.

Where you have sent out the evaluation form by e-mail, once you start getting replies back you can move them into a processing folder in Outlook and then use Trellis 2011 to read and process the returned forms.

For paper evaluation forms, once you have collected the completed forms, you can start entering responses against the relevant form using the Trellis 2011 data entry interface.

6. Run analysis reports

Once you have a some feedback, you can immediately start producing reports.  You can run the feedback analysis report to give an analysis of the responses that were given. You can also filter it by question type and by individual questions.  Where you have set benchmarks for the training, you can run the benchmark report.

To run feedback and benchmark analysis reports across any number of evaluation projects you can use the Multi-Evaluation Project Reporting feature which allows you to run reports from any number of projects based on any criteria you choose.

7. Record any notes to the evaluation

Add any documentation on your evaluation exercise.
