After you have installed Trellis 2011 and before you can begin using it, a Trellis database must be created using the Setup Trellis Database window. This window allows you to create the central database that Trellis will use to store your training evaluation data.

 

The first time you start Trellis 2011 you will see this window.

 

 

 

 

By default, Trellis 2011 assumes you are will be working with an SQL Server database installed on your PC so you will be prompted with an SQL Server Name which comprises the name of your machine and "\MARBLEWIRE". If you do not want to use a database on your PC or have not installed one there, edit the SQL Server Name to reflect the name of the server that has SQL Server installed on it as well as the name of the SQL Server instance.

 

The format of the SQL Server Name is [Server or Machine Name]\[Instance Name]. In the above example the machine name is MAINSERVER96 and the SQL Server is MARBLEWIRE.

 

Server Name will correspond to the name of the machine on which the SQL Server database is installed.

 

Instance Name will correspond to the name of the database instance you want to use for the Trellis database

 

 

Database Name - By default the name of the database is set to Trellis. If you want to use another name, edit the text box and enter the new name you have chosen.

 

Once you have entered this information, you are ready to create the database.  Be sure to select the radio button for Create a new Trellis Database and Connect to it. Once you have done this click on the Create button.

 

Trellis 2011 will proceed to create the database and will provide a progress indicator letting you know the stages of database creation. Once the database has been created, the application will start up.

 

If you have purchased a licence key you can now install it.

 

Note: This process only needs to be done once where all users are working with a central database. For all other users of Trellis 2011, just enter the SQL Server name and the Database name and then select Connect to the Current Trellis Database. Be sure that the relevant permissions have been set up for these users.
